payantha started as a YouTube Shorts channel. Each video is a small simulation written in code: balls, rings, spikes, rays of light. Every time two things collide, one note of a melody plays, so the physics performs the song. The question is always the same: can you name it before it ends?
How the videos are made
Nothing in the videos is animated by hand. The motion comes from the simulation, the sound comes from the motion, and the timing of each note is taken from the exact frame where the collision becomes visible. Before a video goes out we check it the boring way: we measure that every visible bounce has a sound, that no sound plays without a bounce, and that the loudness sits where YouTube expects it.
Why this site exists
In a Short you can only watch. Here you can play: choose the answer, keep a streak, pick the ball you think will escape. The games follow the same rules as the videos, and new ones arrive as new video formats do.
Our rules for music
We only use melodies in the public domain, and we never use recordings: every note is synthesized. The full list, with composers and years, is on the music and copyright page.
